CHINA & HONG KONG: IMPORT
In the first quarter of 2016, pork imports from China and Hong Kong increased by 80%.
The top four exporters to China and Hong Kong, namely the EU, the US, Canada, and Brazil exported 715,758T of pork in the first quarter of 2016.
In the first quarter of 2015, they had exported 319,430T, which corresponds to 80.6% increase in imports in these two countries.
This is due to the Chinese desire to replenish its reserves in order to avoid a price increase in the domestic market.
